BT TV customers can now watch purchased films on their phones and tablets as well as on their set-top box.

Buy a film through your BT YouView or Vision+ set-top box, and you can watch it on your iOS or Android device, and Windows and Mac computers.

Customers can watch on up to four devices per BT ID and can opt to view their movie straight away, or download it to watch offline.

"BT TV was the first TV platform to offer buy-to-keep movies," Alex, Green, director of BT TV, said. "Now we're the first to offer these movies digitally on multiple devices.

"We believe customers will increasingly choose digital ownership given its freedom and flexibility and the ability to create your own personal movie library.

"Meanwhile our TV Everywhere service allows families to enjoy some of their favourite channels around the home and on the move."

The buy-to-keep films include smash hits like '12 Years a Slave', 'Divergent', 'Despicable Me 2', 'Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'.

Prices start at £3.99 for standard definition and £5.99 for high definition.
