peter capaldi doctor who series 8

The next series of 'Doctor Who' could be partly filmed in Spain.

Director of photography Ali Asad tweeted earlier this week: "Going to Spain on a location recce for the DR." The tweet has since been deleted.

Asad is shooting two episodes of the next series.

The team filmed series eight episode 'Kill The Moon' on Lanzarote, so it wouldn't be the Doctor's first foray abroad.

The first episode of the new series will be called 'The Magician's Apprentice', but apart from that, not much is known about series nine.

We know guest stars will include Paul Kaye, Arsher Ali and Morven Christie, and that Toby Whitehouse, creator of BBC Three's supernatural drama 'Being Human', will pen a two-part episode. But that's about it.

The series started filming in Cardiff on Wednesday.
