house of cards series three

'House of Cards' has been named the on-demand show viewers are most looking forward to this year.

The political thriller – whose third series starts next month on Netflix – topped the poll by Radio Times.

Critics hailed House of Cards' success as a landmark in how we watch TV.

"This isn't merely a great show," said Radio Times critic Jonathan Holmes. "It is the first programme to perfect 'binge-watching', which began as everyone's shameful secret and has become this generation's defining verb."

'Binge-watching' refers to watching episodes back to back. On-demand service like Netflix often – though not always – offer entire series at once, so you can lose your whole weekend.

The whole third series of 'House of Cards' will be available on February 27th. Netflix recently released a trailer for it, in which it looks like murder is afoot.

Historical crime drama 'Sherlock' came second in the poll, and 'Brideshead Revisited' third. 'Mad Men', 'The Wire', 'Peep Show', 'Frasier', 'Inspector Morse', 'Sex and the City' and 'Life on Mars' rounded out the top 10.
