TalkTalk TV has reported its best ever quarter. Between September and December last year, the service gained 115,000 new customers.

That brings its total number of TV customers to 1.3 million – that's a third of all homes using TalkTalk's services.

The company puts its success down to its 'boosts' – additional channels you can sign up to for a month at a time, so there's no contract. Sky Movies was its most popular boost during the period. That was probably something to do with the premiere of 'Frozen'.

TalkTalk recently bought streaming service Blinkbox from Tesco, and added Netflix. In November, it launched its first quad-play package, offering mobile, landline, broadband and TV packages.

Last week, TalkTalk TV won Best TV Provider at our own uSwitch Awards.

The company's other businesses also enjoyed a strong quarter. TalkTalk Mobile signed up 50,000 new customers – and took 11 per cent of the total UK SIM market in December – while 88,000 people took out its fibre broadband.

The number of customers leaving TalkTalk reportedly fell to its lowest ever level.
