1980s sitcom ‘Full House’ is coming back to TV. Netflix will exclusively air a 13-part reunion series called ‘Fuller House’ that will focus on DJ Tanner, who was played by Candace Cameron Bure.

John Stamos, who played Uncle Jessie, confirmed the news on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

“Literally just like five minutes ago they [Netflix] called, they sealed the deal,” he told the host.

The sequel has apparently been in the works for “many, many years”.

“We were trying to do some sort of spinoff and we wanted to give credit to the legacy, we didn’t just want to throw it away and so Netflix came around and said ‘let’s do 13 episodes’,” he said.

The original premise involved three men bringing up three girls in San Francisco. It ran from 1987 to 1995.

The new series will turn the situation on its head.

“Candace has three boys and it's sort of a reversal and we turn the house over to her, but it’s a labour of love and we literally have been trying for many years to do it right,” Stamos said.

It’s not yet known whether the other members of the cast – including Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – will return. Discussions are said to be under way.
