Netflix is getting a new look. At least, its web user interface is.
Some lucky souls already have access to it, and it looks a lot simpler than the existing one.
Gone is the slow, auto-spinning carousel, as is the difficulty in selecting specific episodes. Instead, you can expand films and TV shows to see more info and browse stills taken from their running times.
You now click to cycle through selections within categories, which makes for speedier browsing and fewer 'whoops I didn't mean to click that' moments.
In its current guise, you have to hover your cursor over a show to see different episodes. The new method does away with the need to load another menu.
The new UI feels a bit like the one for tablets, and makes it far easier to navigate. It's only available for a handful of early testers so far, and there's no word when the rest of us will get to play with it.
With different UIs for different versions – iOS, Android, PS4, Xbox One etc – it could take a while before all are this usable. But we're not going anywhere.
