The Roku 2 is now available to buy in the UK. Roku announced the streaming box was heading this way back at the start of April, but only now can you pick it up in stores.
Essentially the same package as the Roku 3 but without the enhanced remote control, the second-gen Roku will set you back £69.99 from Argos, Currys PC World and Amazon.
The firm has also unleashed new software features across the whole range of Roku streaming boxes. These are Roku Search and Roku Feed.
Search lets you search across a range of services, including Netflix, Snagfilms and Popcornflix, without opening each individual app. You can search by title, actor or director, and see filmographies as well as pricing options.
Great – but if only it worked across all services. There’s no Amazon Prime Instant Video, for example.
Feed, meanwhile, serves up curated recommendations. Bookmark a film, and it’ll let you know when it’s available to stream and on which service.
The film can be in cinemas now, or a golden oldie you’ve been searching for for months.
Both features should mean a lot less time spent searching and more time watching.
Roku has also updated its Android and iOS apps to accommodate the new features.
