humble pie

Watch has announced a new show called 'Humble Pie', which blends ingredients of Masterchef with leftovers from Come Dine with Me.

Hosted by Marco Pierre White and Melanie Sykes, it sees four contestants cook three dishes and then critique each other's efforts.

They then have to predict how White – a Michelin-starred chef – would rank their meals, and either take the money and run with a 'cash exit fee' or risk staying in.

If they stay, and they were right, they stand to win more money. But if they were wrong and they were the worst, they leave with nothing.

This introduces a bluffing element, and means the best chef might not necessarily win. Some might say that's unfair, but it's definitely a new spin on the cooking show format.

"Melanie and Marco are a fantastic pairing and bring sugar and spice to this series," said Hilary Rosen, UKTV senior commissioning editor.

"When Marco is revealed as the 'Humble Pie' "taster" the contestants are both terrified and excited. 'Humble Pie' is a game of bluff and the tactics are as important as the cooking itself. The best chef doesn't always win."

The series starts in September, and will consist of eight one-hour episodes.
