true detective

The first series of 'True Detective' is now available for the criminally low price of £7.99 on Blinkbox and TalkTalk TV.

That's in standard definition. If you want it in HD, you'll have to stretch to £10.99. Which is still very reasonable.

The second series, which recently finished on Sky Atlantic, costs a bit more, at £13.99 in SD and £17.99 in HD.

This time around, the cast is lead by Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughan and Taylor Kitsch. It takes place in California, and sees the murder of a city manager spur all manner of mayhem.

The first series leads were Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, with Louisiana as the backdrop. It's widely regarded as the better series. And with fewer plot strands to keep track of, it's certainly easier to get to grips with.

Blinkbox doesn't charge a subscription, so you only pay for what you watch. It gets the big HBO shows once they've aired on Sky Atlantic. Buy a series, and it remains yours as long as you stay a Blinkbox customer.

Blinkbox was bought by TalkTalk earlier this year, with the result that TalkTalk TV subscribers can access the same shows and films through their YouView boxes.
