Sky Sports will start showing NFL 'Sunday Night Football' matches, after it was awarded the rights.

Sky will also show 'Monday Night Football' matches, bringing the number of live games it airs per season to over 100.

This Sunday sees the New Orleans Saints take on the Houston Texans, as part of Sky's exclusive live pre-season coverage. It's the first time it has shown live pre-season games in seven years.

'Sunday Night Football' is America's most-watched programme. In the final six weeks of the regular season, the show will be simulcast live on Sky 1, so you won't need a Sky Sports subscription to watch. Though you will need to stay up late.

"We're excited to add 'Sunday Night Football' to our extensive NFL coverage this season," said Jonathan Licht, director of Sky Sports strategy.

"Viewers can now enjoy over 100 games a season on Sky Sports, which added to our digital and On Demand offering, makes it our most comprehensive line-up of NFL ever. NFL fans in the UK and Ireland are going to be in for a fantastic season."
