Sky 1 and NBC have trailed a new comedy-drama, dubbed 'You, Me and Apocalypse' with a cast that takes in Rob Lowe, Megan Mullally and Paterson Joseph.

The show follows a group of characters who are brought together when they find out a large comet is on a collision course with earth.

Lowe plays Father Jude, a rebellious priest at the Vatican whose faith is shaken by the impending apocalypse.

you me and the apocalypse

Lowe said he was "blown away" by the script, which was originally called 'Apocalypse Slough'.

The show also stars Jenna Fischer, Pauline Quirke, Matthew Baynton and Joel Fry.

It's certainly an eclectic cast. Characters include an unhinged white supremacist, a mild-mannered bank manager, a germ-phobic cyber-terrorist, an American five-star general and a child who may have risen from the dead.

They will race to a bunker deep below Slough and could end up being the future of mankind.

'You, Me and the Apocalypse' will air on Sky 1 later this year.
