into the badlands

Post-apocalyptic martial arts series 'Into the Badlands' is coming to Amazon Prime Instant Video in the UK. Amazon snapped up the rights from Entertainment One Television.

The AMC series follows a ruthless warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy called M.K. (Aramis Knight) who have to fight their way through numerous martial arts battles. The Badlands of the title are controlled by rival Barons who have a grip on all resources and rule with an iron fist.

Sunny is one of their 'Clippers' – loyal soldiers who are used to enforce the Barons' rule. Sunny quickly rose through the ranks to become Head Clipper.

The show is loosely based on the classic Chinese tale 'Journey to the West', and is described as a "genre-bending martial arts series".

Episodes will be made available one a week starting on November 17th.

"We're delighted to announce that we're bringing another world-class TV series from AMC exclusively to our Amazon Prime customers here in the UK," said Chris Bird, film & TV strategy director at Amazon Instant Video UK.
