Superhero drama 'Supergirl' is coming to Sky 1 at the end of this month.

Made by Berlanti Productions (the company behind 'The Flash' and 'Arrow') in association with Warner Bros. Television, 'Supergirl is an "epic action adventure for the whole family" according to Sky.

It tells of Kara Zor-El (played by Melissa Benoist from 'Whiplash' and 'Glee'), who escaped Krypton at the same time as her cousin, Superman.

She grows up a seemingly normal girl, being raised by an adopted family, and hides her superpowers in a bid to fit in. But one day, while living in National City and working for media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart from 'Ally McBeal'), she embraces her superhuman abilities and becomes Supergirl.

It's up to her to protect the world from extraterrestrials and high-tech villains. All in a day's work for a superhero.

It starts on October 29th at 8pm.

"I am delighted to announce 'Supergirl' is coming to Sky 1," said Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1. "We've already seen in the success of 'The Flash' and 'Arrow' that comic book characters are a big hit with our customers, and with this fresh, fast-paced new series, we're giving them another sure-fire superhero smash."
