Amazon has aired the first TV advert starring its latest big-name hire, Jeremy Clarkson.

The ad – which aired during the Rugby World Cup final on ITV – sees Clarkson in self-deprecating mode.

"Back in the spring, as you probably remember, I suddenly became un-busy," he says, as he wheels into shot on a Segway.

"But that's okay because I had one of these," he says, holding up an Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Clarkson's contract wasn't renewed by the BBC after he punched a producer in a row over food.

He makes further reference to the incident when scrolling through the channels on offer with Amazon Fire TV Stick. "Demand 5, Netflix, that," he says dismissively when selecting BBC iPlayer.

Of course, he doesn't pass up the chance to plug his forthcoming car show on Amazon, co-hosted by former 'Top Gear' colleagues Richard Hammond and James May.

The show is rumoured to have a budget of £160 million. It's started filming, and is thought to air next autumn.
