Sky Movies is now available for half price for the first six months of a new Sky TV contract.

Sign up to Sky, and you can nab the broadcaster's film channels for £8.50 a month for the first six months, instead of the usual £17 a month.

After six months, the channels revert to their original price.

The bundle gets you all 11 Sky Movies channels. Over the Christmas period, they will screen big-name films like 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb', 'Big Hero 6', 'Exodus: Gods and Kings', and 'Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

However, you'll have to shell out a bit more for the mandatory other Sky channels too.

The most affordable package is the Original Bundle, which costs £20 a month – this gets you channels like Sky 1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living. For the first six months, this will only set you back £10 a month.

To watch films in high definition, you'll need the Family Bundle (£36 a month) plus the HD Pack (£5.25 a month). This is also offered half price for six months.

Sky is also offering free broadband for 12 months if you sign up to Sky Movies. It usually costs £5 a month, though even with the offer you still have to pay £17.40 a month line rental.
