The BBC has introduced pre-roll adverts to its iPlayer catch-up service. However, the adverts will only appear before some shows, will only be for other BBC content, and you can skip them.
The corporation has been testing standalone trailers for 12 months now. They aim to show other content that might interest the viewer, like a 'if you like this, you might also like' feature.
The trailers offer one-click access to the shows trailed, as long as they've aired on TV already. Soon, you'll be able to bookmark the shows in the trailers by adding them to a 'My Programmes' list.
The trailers started on the Flash version of the iPlayer website on Monday. They'll come to other platforms like connected TVs, games consoles and mobile devices soon.
