Here's the first trailer for upcoming French political drama 'Marseille'. The TV series is the first French original production for Netflix, and stars Gerard Depardieu.
Depardieu plays Robert Taro, the mayor of Marseille for the last 25 years. He finds his power threatened when his former protege Lucas Barres (Benoit Magimel) runs against him.
It looks like a French 'House of Cards', as the two wage merciless political campaigns against each other.
It also stars Geraldine Pailhas, Nadia Fares, Gerard Meylan and Nassim Si Ahmed.
The eight-part series starts on Netflix on May 5th.
Netflix has invested big in original productions lately. It likely wants to emulate the success of its series 'House of Cards', the Kevin Spacey-starring Washington-set political drama that was based on a UK novel and BBC series of the same name.
