Netflix has signed the rights to another new film, but this is one you'll be able to see in cinemas.

'The Discovery' is an indie flick, but stars screen legend Robert Redford. Redford plays a man who discovers the afterlife is real – when word gets out, people start committing suicide in their millions in an attempt to start over again fresh.

It's directed by Charlie McDowell ('The One I Love', 'Bye Bye Benjamin'), and also stars Rooney Mara ('The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'), Jason Segel ('Forgetting Sarah Marshall') and Jesse Plemons ('Fargo', 'Breaking Bad').

The film will reportedly be released in cinemas in 2017, and stream on Netflix at the same time. This is the same approach Netflix took with the critically acclaimed 'Beasts of No Nation'.

Netflix recently announced an original series called 'Stranger Things', which looks like a godsend for fans of 80s supernatural thrillers. Amazon hasn't announced any original series recently, but it has signed the rights to dark comedy 'UnReal' series two.
