The Olympics start soon, and ITV is taking a rather unorthodox step to try and make us all a bit more active. Just after the Olympics have finished, the broadcaster will switch off all seven of its channels in a bid to encourage us to get off the sofa and get some exercise.

The event is called I Am Team GB and has the National Lottery as an official partner. It will see the channels go off air for an hour on August 27th – that's six days after the official closing ceremony – from 9:30am to 10:30am.

It's being dubbed 'the world's biggest sports day'.

Olympic, World and European long jump champion Greg Rutherford is on board to encourage us to get active. "You don't have to be an Olympian to be part of Team GB," he said. "National Lottery players make a huge difference through the support they give athletes and on the August bank holiday weekend, there is another amazing chance to be part of it.

"There are going to be thousands of fun, free events across the country so make sure you sign up, get involved and be part of Team GB."

The Olympics start on August 5th and run until the 21st in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
