orange is the new black

Netflix's prison comedy-drama 'Orange is the New Black' still has plenty of pulling power, according to these statistics. The latest series debuted to almost 7 million viewers in America alone.

That's according to analysts Nielsen. Netflix doesn't release viewing figures, so Nielsen has had to estimate how popular the show is.

According to its stats, the premiere of series four was watched by 6.7 million people in the US, while 5.9 million saw episode two.

While Netflix – like its rivals Amazon Prime Video and Hulu – won't confirm viewing figures, it has renewed 'Orange is the New Black' for a further three series. So the show is obviously doing something right.

It's set in a women's prison and stars Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Michael Harney, Kate Mulgrew and Uzo Aduba.

The whole of series four is available to stream now on Netflix. But beware, it ends with a shocking plot twist...
