bbc olympics vr

The Olympics starts tonight, and you can watch some of the action in virtual reality, courtesy of the BBC.

Download the BBC Sport 360 app (for iPhone, Android and Samsung Gear VR), and you can enjoy 100 hours of Olympic coverage in glorious 360 degrees.

You won't even need a virtual reality headset in order to enjoy. Head to the BBC Taster website, and you can scroll around in 360 degrees (as long as your browser is compatible).

Or, for a more immersive experience, pop your iPhone or Android phone into a Google Cardboard headset and watch. There's also an app for the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Live events covered in VR include boxing, beach volleyball, basketball and fencing. You'll also be able to enjoy both the opening and closing ceremonies using the app, and catch a daily round-up of the past day's action.

The app offers up to four different camera angles for each event, and lets you move around within the arena or stadium. So in a way, it'll actually be better than being there. It's certainly cheaper.
