Amazon has commissioned three new comedy series to arrive next year. 'Jean-Claude Van Johnson' stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself, but playing the "world's most dangerous contractor." It sounds like he'll play an exaggerated version of himself, just like David Hasselhoff in Dave's original series 'Hoff the Record'.
Kevin Bacon plays Dick in the double entendre-heavy series 'I Love Dick'. Made by the creators of Amazon series 'Transparent', the series follows a married couple whose monogamy is challenged when Dick arrives on the scene.
'The Tick' is also getting its own series. Peter Serafinowicz will play the comic book character.
All three shows had pilots in the most recent round of Amazon's pilot season. According to Amazon, it was the most watched pilot season ever.
"These pilots were vast in scope, disruptive in tone, challenging in story and sometimes even funny," said Joe Lewis, head of half-hour series for Amazon Studios. "It's rewarding to see customers embrace them in such a huge way. We can't wait to premiere these series next year on Prime Video."
