Google has a new Chromecast streaming dongle up its sleeve, but it'll cost around twice the price of the existing model. That's according to one report.

Sources tell Android Police that the new Chromecast – reportedly called Chromecast Ultra – will cost $69 (£53), as opposed to the current model which costs $35 (£27). In the UK, the current model costs £30.

Your extra cash reportedly gets you the ability to stream content in 4K, which has four times as many pixels as standard high definition. However, it's highly likely Google will keep the current model on sale, so those of us without a 4K telly won't be forced to shell out extra for a feature we won't use.

Google is expected to unveil the device at an event on October 4th – that's a week today. It's also thought to unveil two new Android smartphones – though they'll be under the name Pixel rather than Nexus – and the Google Home speaker, which it previewed back in May.

We'll bring you all the news come October 4th, so stay tuned.
