The TiVo interface has been given a refresh, boasting better TV content discovery and predictions, and a customisable viewing experience.
TiVo is best known on these shores for featuring on Virgin Media's set-top box. Virgin Media's V6 – its eagerly awaited next offering – will have TiVo, so we could well see these features make an appearance.
The aim is to reduce the amount of time viewers spend ploughing through menus to find what they want. It has a new look, and includes new Prediction technology – this goes a step further than bog-standard recommendations and predicts what you want to watch at this point in time.
"We are transforming TV viewing into an easy, personalised experience," Margret Schmidt, TiVo's chief design officer, said in a statement. "The new UX [user experience] brings the content the viewer wants right up front faster through expanded discovery and predictions from their own cable subscription and the best online video sources.
"In short, we designed this UX so the viewer spends less time searching channel guides and opening apps and more time enjoying their favourite shows."
There's no word on when the new UX will launch, or if any of the features will make it to the Virgin Media V6.
