humax h3 espresso

There's a new streaming box vying for your cash this Christmas, and it's made by set-top box manufacturer Humax.

The Humax H3 Espresso is a very similar proposition to a Roku streaming box, in that it lets you wirelessly beam content from the internet to your TV.

You can stream TV shows and films in Full HD, and Netflix, YouTube and TVPlayer apps come as standard. (For the uninitiated, TVPlayer lets you watch live TV without needing an aerial. It's a pay service, but you get two months free with the H3 – this gives you live access to 55 free-to-air channels plus 25 video-on-demand services, including Comedy Central, Discovery and National Geographic Channel.)

You can also stream content from your own devices like smartphones and tablets. Fire up the Humax Cast app, and you can use your smartphone as a remote control.

It can also access recordings on your Humax FVP-4000T Freeview Play set-top box. Which means no need to switch between the two boxes.

The H3 Espresso is available now for £79.99 – that's the same price as the Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD.
