EE TV is the first UK provider to launch 'Watch with Twitter'. This service lets customers see which shows are trending on Twitter, helping them discover which are the most talked-about shows of the moment.
The service takes data directly from Twitter UK, and highlights up to five of the highest trending shows in the EE TV electronic programme guide and throughout the EE TV interface. The functionality features the Twitter logo, so it's easily identifiable, and flags up shows starting in the next hour.
In the programme view, EE TV includes the official hashtag of major shows, so you can jump on Twitter and throw in your tuppence worth.
EE will also add more Watch with Twitter functionality in 2017, so watch this space.
The partnership is a perfect fit, according to Dara Nasr, UK managing director of Twitter. "Great telly and Twitter have always gone hand-in-hand – people love talking about their favourite shows and our new partnership with EE makes it easier than ever to discover which programmes are creating the biggest conversations," he said.
EE TV has also updated its Replay feature. This lets viewers watch the last 24 hours of TV from their favourite channels, which is especially handy if a programme isn't available on catch-up.
EE has increased the number of standard definition channels that support the feature from six to eight. It also now has 10 categories, so you can filter by movies, drama, kids, sport and more.
hayu is also coming to EE TV. The next-generation reality subscription video-on-demand service is now available via an on-demand app on EE TV. It offers over 3,000 episodes of reality TV, including 'Keeping up with the Kardashians', 'The Real Housewives' and 'Top Chef'.
Most of its content is added on the same day that it airs in the US, so you won't be left behind. It also includes box sets, so you can start a series from the very beginning. It costs £3.99 a month.
hayu is available now, while the other features will roll out during November.
