Sony has released an app for its PlayStation Vue TV streaming service on the Apple TV. The app lets viewers watch live channels and on-demand content.

Sadly, PlayStation Vue is only available in the US at the moment.

After a period in beta, PlayStation Vue got a proper release Stateside earlier this year. It's now available through web browsers, and on iOS, Android, Android TV and Roku streaming boxes, as well as on PlayStation 3 and 4 consoles. Just not in the UK.

The service lets subscribers watch on five devices at the same time. They can also record hundreds of hours of shows and films using the cloud-based DVR (digital video recorder).

In the US, it starts at $29.99 for 55 channels, and goes up to $74.99 for the Ultra package, which includes HBO, Showtime and local content.

Vue joins Dish Network's wildly successful Sling TV service on the Apple TV. Rumours abound that Apple will launch its own TV streaming service, but the chances of that happening this year are narrowing.
