Here's the trailer for the 'Doctor Who' Christmas special. The show is regularly one of the most-watched shows over the Christmas period.

It's also getting a big-screen outing. That's right, Fathom Events and BBC Worldwide are inviting fans to enjoy a two-night presentation of the episode (titled 'The Return of Doctor Mysterio') in select cinemas around the UK. These screenings will be on Tuesday 27th December and Thursday 29th December.

If nothing else, it's a chance to escape the family over the festive period.

They will also include an exclusive introduction and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the special.

If you can't make it to the one of the screenings, the episode will air on Christmas Day on BBC One.

It sees Justin Chatwin ('Orphan Black') play a Superman-esque hero who takes on the Doctor as they attempt to save New York from aliens.

"I've always loved superheroes and, this Christmas, 'Doctor Who' dives into that world," said writer/showrunner Steven Moffat.

It will also feature Matt Lucas as Nardole, the cyborg from last year's Christmas special.
