BT Sport will become the first UK channel to show 'FIFA 17' competitive gaming. eSports like this pit the best competitive computer gamers in the world against each other, and can attract crowds almost as big as the real sports they mirror.

BT Sport will show the remaining four EA FIFA Majors – Season Two North American Regional Final in Vancouver (8th April), Season Two Asia-Pacific Regional Final in Singapore (22nd April), Season Two European Regional Final in Madrid (6th May) and the FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship Final in Berlin (20th and 21st May).

"This is yet another example of live innovation from BT Sport," said Simon Green, head of BT Sport. "Competitive interactive football gaming is a rapidly growing industry and I'm delighted that BT Sport is now able to showcase it for the first time ever in the UK."

Todd Sitrin, senior vice president and general manager of competitive gaming division, EA, added: "There's a profound opportunity for competitive gaming to achieve mainstream success and the key to accomplishing this is accessibility.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with BT Sport to make our exciting competitions for EA Sports FIFA, the most popular video game in the UK, available across the nation as we move the industry forward."
