Sky will air an adaptation of David Walliams' children's book 'Ratburger' this Christmas.
It follows the adventures of a young girl called Zoe (played by Talia Barnett), who has plenty of drama at home and at school. When she finds a dancing baby rat in her bedroom, she starts an unlikely friendship. But her stepmother and the local shifty burger man want to serve the rat up as food.
Walliams will star as Burt the burger man. Sheridan Smith plays Zoe's stepmother, and Mark Benton her dad. The show also features Nigel Planer and Ben Bailey Smith.
"I'm thrilled my book is coming to Sky and especially thrilled that I am playing the villain Burt," Walliams said. "Plus I will be working with one of my favourite comedy actors Nigel Planer and someone who I adore working with, the super-talented Sheridan Smith."
Jon Montague, Sky's head of comedy, added: "Hilarious, gruesome and warm-hearted in equal measure, David's book 'Ratburger' is a terrific tale, with a fantastic cast. We jumped at the chance to bring the adventure, villainy and vermin to screens."
