As the weather's cooling down, we're spending more time indoors in front of our TVs. We've rounded up our picks of the best TV series across Freeview, pay TV and streaming services to get you through the cooler months.

We've got a full guide to autumn TV, but we've pulled together some Halloween-themed TV series for fans of horror and thrillers here.

Stranger Things

Series two of Stranger Things launches this month on Netflix. Get ready to return to Hawkins and find out how everyone's coping with attempting to return to normal life after the Upside Down. The Duffer Brothers have promised this series will feature more horror tropes than last series — perfect for its 27 October release date.

Amazon is adapting the popular podcast about the real-life tales behind horror myths and legends. This series will take a mixed media approach, combining animation and reenactments with real historical footage to blend the lines between fact and fiction. Watch it starting 13 October.

The Walking Dead

Everyone's favourite series about zombies returns from the dead on 23 October with its series eight premiere. This series is likely to continue to focus on the battle against Negan, but since this is The Walking Dead, there's bound to be some great zombie scares. Watch it on FOX.

David Fincher's new TV series for Netflix premieres 13 October. Set in the '70s, it follows the FBI agents at the forefront of modern forensic psychology as they interview serial killers to try to solve ongoing cases.
