spotify stranger things

'Stranger Things' series two hits Netflix on Friday. To celebrate, music streaming service Spotify has added a neat extra to its web player.

Activating it changes the look of your Spotify player from boring old black and green into the Upside Down, the creepy world-inside-a-world that haunts the town of Hawkins in the show. It comes complete with floating spores and a panning flashlight beam to really add to the effect.

It doesn't affect the music you're playing, however. It also only works with the 'Stranger Things' soundtrack, which was released last week, and only in certain web browsers like Google Chrome.

To activate it, open Spotify in your web browser, and select either soundtrack from the first or second series of 'Stranger Things'. Set it playing, and as long as you don't move your mouse or browse Spotify, the new mode will kick in. The minute you press a button or move the mouse, it disappears and you're back to boring old Spotify.

Still, maybe a return to the real world will be welcome, with all these spooky goings on. We are just days away from Halloween, after all...
