Sky Q has just gained an extra power: music streaming through Spotify.
Right now, Sky Q users can download the Spotify app and listen to over 35 million songs and curated playlists right from their Sky Q homepage.
Like other audio from Sky Q, you can stream Spotify wirelessly over Bluetooth or AirPlay. That means you can have wireless speakers set up in your lounge, with no snaking cables that double as trip wires.
Of course, it works with the Sky Soundbox too.
You can use the free version of Spotify which includes those annoying adverts, or you can log in to your paid-for account and enjoy all the extra features, like the ability to choose which song plays next.
"With Spotify joining our Sky Q platform, we are giving customers the best home entertainment experience in Europe," said Jeremy Darroch, group chief executive at Sky.
Jorge Espinel, VP of business development at Spotify, added: "Spotify and Sky share a focus on innovation, disruption and delivering an excellent experience to our customers. We're delighted that consumers in the UK and Ireland will soon have another means to listen to all the music and podcasts they love on Spotify via Sky Q.
"The partnership between Spotify and Sky will offer consumers the chance to enjoy great entertainment from two leading media brands, and we are excited for what the future of the partnership may bring."
Sky Q has also got a new widescreen user interface.
Other improvements coming soon include voice-activated personalised recommendations and a new kids mode.
