Amazon has bought the exclusive rights to futuristic love story Zoe. The film is directed by Drake Doremus, and debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival recently.

Doremus is the man behind Like Crazy, Douchebag and Breathe In, so expectations are high for Zoe. It's set in a research lab that makes technology that aims to improve romantic relationships.

It stars Lea Seydoux, Ewan McGregor, Theo James, Rashida Jones, Miranda Otto and Cristina Aguilera.

Doremus has also signed a deal with Amazon to make a TV series based on Jardin Libraire's book White Fur.

Amazon is betting big on sci-fi and fantasy. It's commissioned a multi-million dollar TV series set in the same universe as Lord of the Rings, as well as series based on the work of sci-fi novelists William Gibson and Iain M. Banks.
