We are looking for a multi-skilled, committed and motivated professional to run our Community Events programme. This pioneering role is an opportunity to grow a relatively new route to market for uSwitch and spans several business areas including marketing, PR, customer services and the energy product team. This is a demanding role requiring flexible working hours - but ultimately extremely rewarding for those who are interested in educating and empowering consumers and making a difference in the community, helping those most in need of saving money. This is a varied and exciting opportunity - at a single event you could find yourself speaking to an MP, local journalist, community leader and a cash-strapped consumer.
Enhance uSwitch`s reputation by increasing awareness and understanding of its work among key external audiences, including consumers and local stakeholders e.g. councils and MPs.
Continue to build uSwitch`s position and safeguard our reputation as a consumer champion and energy expert, working with the Marketing team to build the brand
Identify and implement a strategy for Community Events that builds relationships with the wider community while supporting our business goals - ultimately increasing brand awareness and switching.
Identify appropriate key messages and plan and deliver events/presentations that target these messages at the right audiences. Ensure that events dovetail with marketing activity when appropriate and are integrated into the wider marketing mix including web content, social media and email marketing.
Cultivate strong relationships with local media and stakeholders to deliver messages confidently and regularly, positively and accurately. Draw upon our USP, which is a wealth of comparison data and household energy bill sizes going back to 2004, to demonstrate our industry expertise.
Present performance and feedback from events back to the business. Highlighting directly attributable energy switch activity, key issues/obstacles to switching and how we can improve consumers` experience.
Generate new events to target consumers
Create and maintain relationships with organisations
Event management experience within a customer-facing environment such as exhibitions or conferences.
Must be passionate about consumer issues and representing the customer`s voice.
Knowledge, interest or experience of the energy and broadband industries, or a proven track record within a similarly complex and challenging sector. Ability to communicate complicated issues effectively to consumers and other key stakeholders.
Knowledge, interest or experience of working with the media - spokesperson experience desirable but not essential.
Proven track record of devising and implementing events and presentations that deliver results and training
The ability to work on their own and take the initiative when the opportunity arises
Excellent writing and presentation skills - able to articulate messages clearly and concisely in an engaging style.
Proactive, fully aware of the macro environment and how this will affect the business.
A strong advocate and guardian of the uSwitch brand.
Excellent at networking with key community stakeholders and ability to proactively manage contacts and get invited to events.
