20th July 2004: New Tiscali tariff

Tiscali have just launched a new tariff, Free Weekend Extra. This gives the user free calls to UK landlines at the weekends and replaces their Everytime Saver package for new customers

Ofcom rules on BT price changes

Ofcom has ruled in favour of BT over their migration of Standard customers onto the Together Option1 plan. In March the telecoms giant announced it was scrapping its standard rate line rental and moving customers to its Option 1 plan, in a move they said would simplify its tariff structure and offer better value for its customers. However the changes are bad news for customers who choose to use an alternative supplier for their calls.

All 3 million carrier pre-select customers will see bills rise by £12 a year due to the increased cost of line rental. However, average BT users are likely to see bills come down by approximately £24* due to the lower call charges.
