Advertising Claim Verification

In some of our current television advertising, we make the claim that you can save £179 by switching broadband. The substantiation for this claim is below. The same methodology substantiates the individual claims that:

  • "You switch broadband. You save £179."

  • "Visit to see if you could save £179 on your broadband."

Switching to a new broadband deal after your initial contract has ended could save you £179 (£178.98) a year. This calculation is based on the average out of contract costs in January 2024 for Vodafone, BT, Virgin Media, NOW Broadband, Sky and Shell Energy Broadband (£488.98) compared to the average cost of the most popular three new deals (Virgin Media M125 Ultrafast Fibre broadband only at £318 per year, Sky Superfast Broadband at £324 and Vodafone Fibre 2 at £288). Correct as of 1st February 2024.

In some of our current television advertising, we make the claim that you can save £360 by switching from a handset contract to a SIM Only deal. The substantiation for this claim is below. The same methodology substantiates the individual claims that:

  • "You switch to a SIM Only deal. You save £321."

  • "Visit Uswitch.com to see if you could save £321 on your mobile."

Switching from an ending 24 month handset contract to a SIM-only contract (and keeping your existing handset) could save you £321 per year. This calculation is based on the price of the top selling 24 month handset package in Q1 2022 (Apple iPhone 13 with 100GB data) against the cheapest equivalent SIM only deal on the Uswitch site as of Jan 2024 (TalkMobile 120GB data £11.95 per month). Correct as of 1st February 2024.
