Any personal information you provide on our site or the lender’s site is protected using encryption software. So it cannot be accessed by hackers.

Internet pages that are encrypted have a small padlock icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen. Look for this to ensure you are on a secure page. Any information required by a lender or broker is encrypted to prevent unauthorised access.

If you are redirected through to a lender’s website to make the loan application, we collect basic contact information from you to facilitate any queries you may have later. We do not sell our customer data to any third parties. Our privacy policy gives full details of how we use your information.

If you use our loans comparison service we only collect information required to provide you with a valid set of results. If you decide to apply for a loan and the loan application is completed on the uSwitch website, we once again only collect the information required by the lender to complete the application.

How can you stop someone else from using your details to apply for a loan? Lenders verify your information by checking that the details on your application are correct. Although a lender may agree in principle to lend you the money online, the loan will not be released until you return a signed copy of the loan agreement, which will have been posted to your home address.

The lender will check your credit history, which means your application will be seen by a credit checking agency. Your details may also be shared with fraud prevention agencies, but this is to help ensure the application is genuinely yours. The lender may also get in contact with your employer or accountant to make sure the information you give on your application is accurate.
