3's mobile broadband is 'cheap and fast'
Posted 26th August 2008 at 10:00am by Alex Buttle
Customers taking 3's mobile broadband offering can expect the cheapest fees and fastest connection out of any of the five main providers of the service, according to a recent review.
PC Pro conducted reviews of mobile broadband deals offered by 3, T-Mobile, Orange, O2 and Vodafone.
It was found that 3's highest recorded "actual through put" of 2.6Mb came close to its advertised speed of 2.8Mb.
Its average inner-London connection speed of 1.6Mb also compares favourably with other companies included in the review.
According to the publication: "3 offers the cheapest monthly broadband tariff, but also recorded the fastest connection speed of the five networks tested here.
"Connection speeds were consistently between 1 and 2Mb, providing comparable performance to Vodafone."
However, it was found that 3's connection did not fare so well when being used on trains travelling through deadspots.
