Businessman develops rooftop mobile broadband solution
Posted 20th August 2010 at 3:21pm by Ewan Taylor-Gibson
People looking to maximise the quality of their mobile broadband services could follow the lead of a Lincolnshire businessman.
Richard Duckering, who runs a repair shop near Market Rasen, has developed a new system in order to ensure he has access to the best possible coverage, reports This is Lincolnshire.
He decided to attach a mobile broadband dongle to a large pole and then secured the item to the building's roof.
"It was a real nightmare not having broadband, as dial-up is so slow," Mr Duckering told the website.
"Then one day I was up on the roof doing some work and I noticed I had a 3G signal on my phone and wondered if I would be able to use a broadband dongle to finally have access to better internet."
A recent study carried out by Infonetics Research suggested that mobile broadband services will be used by 1.8 billion people worldwide by 2014.
