Commenting on the launch of the Nokia Lumia 830 at IFA, Rob Kerr, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com comments: “The Nokia Lumia 830 is 36% cheaper than the iPhone 5S but billing it as the maker’s ‘first affordable flagship’ handset is false modesty.

“Nokia’s 930 hit the market at a lower price than the Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and the HTC One M8 – so smartphone fans have come to expect affordability of Nokia.

“The Lumia’s camera has long been its unique selling point, and it doesn’t disappoint – taking a better shot than the iPhone 5S.

“A flash that can be switched on even after the picture has been taken is an extremely clever feature – one that’s likely to be widely used and even copied by other mobile makers.

“Battery life has always been Nokia’s strength – but its intelligent wireless charging plate that can be integrated into the device via a removable cover seems lacklustre, as the plate needs to be plugged in. It doesn’t solve the age-old problem of being able to boost your battery whilst on the move.

“How the 830 stands up when the Apple iPhone 6 arrives in just a few days’ time will be an interesting comparison.”
