First Utility launches market’s cheapest energy tariff in five years

  • New First Utility ‘First Fixed April 2017 v7’ energy tariff becomes the cheapest on the open market at just £751 per year, based on average consumption

  • The new tariff is the cheapest on the open market in over five years

  • The plan is only available to switch to through Uswitch.com and First Utility

  • The average cost of the open market’s cheapest deal has now fallen by a staggering 10% or £80 in the past six months.

First Utility’s ‘First Fixed April 2017 v7’ costs £751.49 based on average consumption (as defined by Ofgem’s medium typical domestic consumption values of 12,500kWh for Gas and 3,100kWh for electricity). Rates are fixed until 30 April 2017. Online account management and payment by Direct Debit required. There is an early exit fee of £30 per fuel.

  2. The First Utility ‘First Fixed April 2017 v7’ plan is the cheapest tariff since Scottish Power’s ‘Online Energy Saver 13’ launched on 18th February 2011 at £782, not including energy tariffs available solely through private initiatives such as collective switching schemes or only in certain regions

  3. com is the only price comparison site which can switch customers to the new tariff. The new deal is also available direct from First Utility

  4. Cheapest deal on the market on 1st September 2015 was GB Energy’s ‘Premium Energy Saver’ at £831. The cheapest deal on the market today (4th March 2016) is First Utility’s ‘First Fixed April 2017’ at £751 a year = £80 difference.
