Iresa customers to be moved to Octopus Energy

Energy regulator Ofgem has appointed Octopus Energy to supply customers of Iresa, which ceased trading on 27 July 2018.

Iresa’s former customers will be contacted by Octopus by 14 August and offered the ‘Flexible Octopus’ tariff, with the switch to the new supplier completed around a week later.

Ofgem is advising customers affected to wait until the switch to Octopus is complete before deciding whether they wish to switch to a different tariff or energy company.

Uswitch.com energy expert Rik Smith says: “Iresa customers’ credit balances will be protected and there will be no interruption to their supply.

“Ofgem has acted quickly to appoint a new supplier but customers should wait until the switch to Octopus is completed if they’re thinking about shopping around for a different deal – that way they can be sure there will be no complications if they then wish to move to another energy company.”
