Samsung launches new Galaxy A range

Commenting on the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy A range, Uswitch.com mobile’s expert Ru Bhikha says:

“Samsung has attempted to push boundaries so far this year, with the launch of the Galaxy Fold and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G catching the eye as it has sought to counter its smartphone sales slump.

“However, despite the impressive tech included with these handsets, the steep price tags have not convinced huge numbers of consumers to part with their cash as the industry continues to struggle with smartphone apathy.

“Samsung hopes the Galaxy A range may be the antidote: high-quality mid-range alternatives that don’t lean too heavily on tech gimmicks but simply deliver what people want and need on a daily basis.

“The flagship model of the new range is the A80, which hopes to attract punters with its 25W fast charging – an increasingly sought-after feature, with people demanding round-the-clock use of their phones.

“The 48MP camera is a first for one of the major providers, with a pop-up design – allowing the camera to slide and rotate for use in both selfie mode and standard rear shots. This feature has only previously been seen on some of Oppo’s most recent offerings.

“Consumers are spoilt for choice with so many competitively equipped handsets, meaning price looks set to be the deciding factor as name recognition carries increasingly less significance – even for a heavyweight such as Samsung.

“With that in mind, Samsung’s Galaxy A range is a smart, affordable addition to its stable and could play an important role in helping the South Korean manufacturer retain its position at the top of the market.”
