Uswitch comments on EE’s 5G launch

Following EE’s announcement that it is launching 5G in six cities next week, Ru Bhikha, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, says: “With EE, the UK’s largest mobile network, announcing that it will turn on its 5G network as early as next week in six urban hubs around the country, it’s fair to say superfast connectivity is finally here.

“However the vast majority of consumers won’t be able to access these faster mobile speeds on their current phones, which means a phone upgrade will be required.

“Early adopters will marvel at the faster speeds, but the truth is that despite the roll out, including an additional ten cities this year and ten more next year, consumers will still be limited by the geographical locations in which they can actually benefit.

“To really help consumers enjoy the faster services 5G offers, EE has put together a set of swappable pick ’n’ mix packages to cater for all interests, at a price that won’t necessarily see potential customers shy away.

“While phase 2 and 3 of the roll out will really help take 5G to the masses, today’s news is an exciting first step for those consumers who have the means, and the post code, to benefit.”
