Nick Baker, TV and streaming expert at Uswitch.com, comments:
“This year’s Oscars have given us some really exciting Best Picture nominations, and UK film fans will be desperate for the chance to watch them.
“With cinemas still closed, the best way to see these films is on streaming platforms, and it’s great to see so many of them already available in the UK.
“Finding all of the Best Picture nominations can be tricky, as release strategies change week by week, and movies are scattered across a number of different streaming services.
“Mank and The Trial of the Chicago 7 are both available now on Netflix, meaning you can watch both from £5.99 a month.
“Judas and the Black Messiah is available now on Video On Demand sites such as BFI Player for £16 - roughly the cost of two cinema tickets in most of the UK.
“Viewers who want to watch Nomadland will have to wait until after the Oscars, when it will launch on Disney+, which costs £7.99 a month.
"Many other Oscar-nominated films are already available, including Ma Rainey's Black Bottom on Netflix, which features awards-worthy performances from the late Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis.
“Film fans are spoiled for choice with streaming services, with Netflix offering 6,529 movies compared to Amazon Prime’s more than 20,000 titles.
“Disney+ offers more than 500 films, including classic cartoons, Star Wars and all of the moves in the Marvel cinematic universe.”
