Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, more commonly known as BMW, is the most popular car brand on TikTok, with an incredible 17.6 billion views on the app[2]. BMW as a brand has been quick to embrace the social media platform, creating their own hashtag challenges to promote their vehicles.

Like BMW, Mercedes has also made great use of TikTok through viral challenges such as the #MBStarChallenge. Some of the vehicles which racked up the most views for the brand include the S-Class, G-Class and CLA-Class.

Italian luxury sports car maker Lamborghini is in third place with over 8.3 billion views[1]. Lambo was the first supercar brand to arrive on TikTok[3], with the brand also being frequently mentioned in popular songs on the platform, such as Rockstar by DaBaby and Roddy Ricch.

Looking at the specific models which have received the most views on TikTok, the iconic Ford Mustang was a clear winner, with 3.9 billion views[1]. The longest-serving car in Ford’s lineup, the Mustang has been a mainstay since 1964 and is clearly still as popular today as it ever was, proving to be a hit on social media.

The Nissan GT-R and the Toyota Supra tied for second place, both sitting on 2.8 billion views[1]. Both cars are a staple of Japanese sports car culture and have proved hugely popular on social media!

Joel Kempson, car insurance expert at Uswitch.com comments: “TikTok is no longer just a space for Gen-Z to share viral dances and challenges. The app is now home to many viral car videos, racking up billions of views from car lovers all over the world.

“Unsurprisingly, the majority of the most-viewed motoring videos on TikTok involve vehicles that many of us could only dream of owning, as people turn to social media to escape lockdown life.

“It seems that we love taking a peek at the exclusive lifestyles of those lucky enough to drive one of these luxurious rides, as the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini, have received the highest number of views on the app.”
