Uswitch comments on Premier League TV deal extension subject to UK Government approval

Catherine Hiley, TV expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “This move by the Premier League will bring a sigh of relief from fans who have taken out subscriptions with each of the providers to watch the matches.

“Sticking to the status quo means that consumers won’t have to fork out extra money like they would if another TV or streaming provider had entered the mix.

“With the BBC only showing limited action, fans will still need BT Sport, Sky Sports and Amazon Prime subscriptions if they want to watch every match played by their team.

“For fans that only use their subscription for the nine-month football seasons, cancelling an Amazon Prime or NOW subscription is straightforward.

“However, other providers only offer 18-month subscriptions, meaning the next season will have come around by the time you can cancel penalty-free.”
