Trick or treat yourself to a binge watch this Halloween weekend, as Ustream helps Brits plan where to watch their spooky favourites

  • Netflix is the platform which hosts the most impressive selection of high grossing horror content, with 12 subcategories under it’s ‘Halloween’ section alone[1]

  • Brits spend at least 1 hour 5 minutes a day streaming favourite shows , doubling since 2019[2]

  • Recent data reveals 11 million Brits signed up to streaming services last year, an increase of 55% since 2019[2]

  • Uswitch.com’s new tool - Ustream - shows when and where to watch the spookiest Halloween movies, while helping to ditch unnecessary subscriptions.

With clocks turning back and nights drawing in, film fanatics will be spending time in front of the TV watching their favourite Halloween films. To help streaming addicts make the most of their time indoors, Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service, has revealed where to watch some of the most popular Halloween films with help from the new Ustream tool.

Netflix is the streaming platform with the most impressive horror content, with 12 subcategories in its Halloween section alone, including ‘Teen Screams’ and ‘Suspense’.[1]. Amazon Prime also has 1,021 videos under its ‘Halloween Movie Picks’ category[3].

Streaming content has been on the rise since lockdown with recent data from telecoms regulator Ofcom revealing that 11 million Brits signed up for a streaming service subscription in 2020 - a whopping 55% increase since 2019[2].

Over a quarter of households (26%) admit they rely solely on the internet to stream their favourite shows, and almost half (44%) of TV fans juggle multiple streaming service subscriptions[5].

To help Brits make the most of their many streaming subscriptions, Uswitch.com recently launched the ‘Ustream’ tool allowing users to plan when and where to watch to save money on unnecessary subscriptions.

‘Ustream’ helps watchers map their viewing calendar by choosing their favourite shows and films and selecting the amount of hours they want to binge per day. A handy colour-coded calendar shows when and where to watch their desired content, telling users which subscriptions they need and the most cost-effective way to watch.

The tool includes the UK’s favourite platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Britbox, BBC iPlayer, NOW and Apple TV.

Nick Baker, TV and streaming expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “It’s officially spooky season and what better way to spend the darker, longer nights than by scaring yourself silly with a horror binge-watch.

“For those not interested in trick and treating or parties, we’ve assessed the highest grossing horror films of all time and highlighted where to watch them for Halloween.

“Ustream is our onsite tool that helps film fanatics and series lovers plan out their viewing calendar and discover which platforms are needed, or not needed which could ultimately save you money.

“Having the ability to plan your nights on the sofa will not only give you peace of mind that you’ll have great content available, but also that you’re not breaking the bank to watch your favourite movies and shows.”
