I’m streaming of a white Christmas: where to watch your favourite Christmas film

● Online searches for ‘how to stream Christmas films’ and ‘what to watch’ increased by 67% last year as streaming is on the rise[1]

● Figures show that Netflix and Disney+ gained another 54 million worldwide subscribers his year alone[2]

● Amazon Prime Video tops the Uswitch table with the platform offering the largest selection of popular Christmas films through its service[3]

● ‘How to watch The Grinch’ was the most popular Christmas film search in 2020, with a dramatic rise of 1050% since 2019[5]

● Uswitch.com’s Ustream tool shows when and where you can watch the nation's favourite Christmas films, while helping to ditch unnecessary subscriptions.

As the Christmas period looms closer, many Brits will be wondering when it’s acceptable to start binge watching Christmas movies. To help streaming addicts make the most of their time during the festive season, Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service, has revealed where to watch some of the most popular Christmas films with help from the Ustream tool.

Online searches for ‘best Christmas movies’, ‘where to watch Christmas movies’ and ‘Christmas films’ were up 67% last December[1].

Searches for Christmas streaming content are likely to stay high again this year as stats show Netflix and Disney+ welcomed another 54 million subscribers worldwide in 2021.

Streaming content has been on the rise since the first lockdown last year, with recent data from telecoms regulator Ofcom revealing that 11 million Brits signed up for a streaming service subscription in 2020 - a whopping 55% increase since 2019[4].

Amazon Prime Video has the largest number of highly rated Christmas films, such as Love Actually, The Holiday and Elf. Although, users should be aware that not all Christmas films are included within the platform's subscription service and are only available for an additional standalone cost.

Over a quarter of households (26%) admit they rely solely on the internet to stream their favourite shows, and almost half (44%) of TV fans juggle multiple streaming service subscriptions[6].

To help Brits make the most of their many streaming subscriptions, Uswitch.com has launched the ‘Ustream’ tool, which allows users to plan when and where to watch their chosen content to save money on unnecessary subscriptions.

‘Ustream’ helps watchers map their viewing calendar by choosing their favourite shows and films and selecting the amount of hours they want to binge per day. A handy colour-coded calendar shows when and where to watch their desired content, telling users which subscriptions they need and the most cost-effective way to watch.

The tool includes the UK’s favourite platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Britbox, BBC iPlayer, NOW and Apple TV.

Max Beckett, TV and streaming expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “Many of us Brits are big fans of sitting back on the sofa and tucking into a film or boxset, and at Christmas that’s no exception.

“With streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video gaining new subscribers every month worldwide, it’s no surprise that we’re all frantically searching for what to watch next.

“Ustream is our onsite tool that helps film fanatics and series lovers plan out their viewing calendar and discover which platforms are needed and when, which could ultimately save you money.

“Having the ability to plan your nights on the sofa will not only give you peace of mind that you’ll have great festive content available, but also that you’re not breaking the bank to watch your favourite movies and shows.”
